Most leaders have far more power within reach than they realize, yet their ego keeps them from accessing it. Why is this? Leaders often play the outer game of power—building networks, alliances, reputation, and resources. This approach works, but only up to a point.
Even when leaders turn inward, it often reinforces their ego’s habits. Real power lies deeper. It is the path of vertical development — rare, demanding, and the true higher game.
The trap is this: the ego is a master of illusion. It convinces you that your identity is strong — and that this is all there is. In Kabbalah, this is called the Yesod trap. You keep pushing harder, adding more, defending status. Yet beneath the surface it breeds fragility: stress, blind spots, and the Dunning-Kruger effect — overconfidence masking undiscovered weakness.
The deeper inner game is different. It demands going where the ego resists — into the unconscious, where the higher powers live. Leaders who dare to go there unlock capacities most never reach:
- Innovation beyond normal — Jobs and Einstein saw patterns others could not.
- Strength through integrity — Buffett’s empire rests not on tricks, but on trust.
- Clarity of higher patterns — the ability to sense shifts and act with foresight.
Kabbalah names this ascent as moving from Asiyah (action), to Yetzirah (formation), and for some even Briyah (creation). At these levels, leadership rises beyond management. It becomes transformational.
If you stay in the outer game, power will remain fragile. Step into the higher game, and power becomes unshakable.
The choice is yours: will you lead shallow, or will you dive deep into the higher game?
